Description:

Microsoft Virtualization for VMware Administrators

With System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, Microsoft offers organizations the ability to cut costs and improve efficiency by introducing Hyper-V into their existing VMware environment, allowing the virtualization administrator to manage Hyper-V and ESX hosts and virtual machines from a single console. Although VMware has been the predominant player in the virtualization space, the performance improvements and cost benefits of Microsoft’s virtualization platform make it an attractive option.

It is understandable that IT Managers might be worried about having to rebuild their infrastructure on the new platform, and are worried about losing their investment. This session will familiarize the VMware administrator with the Microsoft virtualization tools, and show them how they can begin to integrate new Hyper-V servers into their environment and how they will work with their existing vCenter environment without having to abandon their ESX infrastructure.

Additionally, we will demonstrate how this mixed environment can be managed centrally from a single System Center VMM console. We will cover managing, cloning, and converting of VMs as well as virtual networks and storage.
